Speech-less

You know the adage that you don't miss it till you lost it? It is certainly true for my voice... 2 weeks ago, my voice decided to take a holiday without me.. Yes, effectively I was without a voice for a week, and what a week it was. I realised that I couldn't wake my daughter up in the morning (she's a wee bit heavy sleeper during school days). I couldn't pass instructions to my techs, and couldn't nag at hubby.

But on the bright side, Rachel was a darling during my sickness, she didn't disturb me, and most importantly, nobody (hint, hint) could call to bug me... and this time I wasn't in Lanka where I couldn't call for room service (no voice, sob, sob) and most of their food was spicy, even the chicken soup and can only eat fruits for all 3 meals.

But, overall, it was a very bad week for me b'cos when my voice was almost recovered, I caught flu and was down again.

Ten & tan

Now what is the problem with ten and tan? Well, not much, but to a five year old girl with quite an extensive vocabulary, she recognises both words and the two sounds the same. So, she spelled t-a-n instead of t-e-n in her exams. I guess the mummy should have gone through the spelling with her one day before the exams instead of 5 days earlier. But what the heck, she is only 5 years old!

Typical conversation with bro

Sometimes, more often than not, our conversation will go like this. Today's version.
Bro : Ta Jie, Er Jie got call you or not?
Me : Yes (sigh)
Bro : Wat time?
Me : This afternoon
Bro : She got tell you or not?
Me : Tell me wat (pressure starts to rise)
Bro : About Sarah.
Me : About Sarah wat (pressure and voice volume rising...)
Bro : About her wanting her chute-chute and saying sorry...
Me : Yes (almost resigned... to not wanting to talk anymore)
Bro : Very funny right?
Me : Yes
Bro : So why are you not laughing?
Me : Arrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!

PS. Bro found out about this blog/entry and is threatening to start a blog about his sisters... I mean, I named no names right??? (Innocent puppy eyes)...

Rachel quotes 2

Last night, I was feeling a little bit lazy, so when Rachel wanted her nightly feed, I just called down to hubby who was downstairs "Daddy, daddy, Rachel wants to drink milk"....

She heard me... she asked, "Mummy, you should say 'hubby' right, not 'daddy"... so I've to call down to hubby "Hubby, hubby, Rachel wants to drink milk....

Rachel quotes 1

Rachel coined a new phrase. Love kisses... I asked her what is love kiss? It seems that it is a particular type of blown kisses, much more powerful than real kiss. If you fall down or feel sad, then one love kiss will make you feel better. It can also be transmitted through the phone, but b'cos the distance of my office from home is a quite far, it will only reach me when I come home. Since I called her at lunch time, it seems to me that the kisses are really slow isn't it? Well, she says what to do? she have to take care of her doggies, so she don't have time to guide the kisses....
